Well one of my maxima from pacific east is dying. The mantle is collapsed inside the shell and the outward syphon is gaping. Gonna try to dip him right now but other than that I think he is a goner. Smaller one looks great though.

Unfortunately, I think once the mantle collapses like that it's a goner. I'm pretty sure that's what the speaker at CMAC said in his presentation. You're probably better off taking it out of the tank. The pacific east clams are a bit hit or miss. I bought one last year and it died in less then a week . They are beautiful clams but I haven't heard of too many people having long term success. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Hopefully your other one does well
Yeah the hole just kept getting bigger and it started to detach from the shell so I removed it. Sad for it to be gone so soon. I heard that they were hit or miss from a guy at another booth. After I bought 2 of them of course.
Everything in this hobby is hit or miss. I bought 4 acros from the same vendor at CMAC, and two of them bleached in the bag, never even made it to the tank. Hopefully, your remaining one lives a long life.
