Have you guys read the announcement at the top of this page? What do you guys think. Should we attempt to showcase our humble little club in the "Reefkeeper". if you want, I can PM the skipper and tell him what we are about (ie., zoo tank, frag swaps, anticipated road trips etc. ).

OK, this is what i wrote to Skipper:

Hi Skipper: Southern Tier Reef Society would be thrilled if you would consider us to be featured in Reefkeeper. STRS is a group of people who want to share ideas, experiences, frags (propagated coral), and information related to reef keeping and the natural reefs. This group was created out of a need to have a more localized group for reef keepers located in the southern part of upstate NY and the northeast part of PA. We are a young organization having been founded in May, 2007. We are also relatively small (but steadily growing) with about 20-25 regular members and conbtributors to our RC forum. Despite our youth and size, we are a very active, experienced, and dedicated group of aquarists. We have combined our expertise and considerable time to establish and maintain a 180 gallon tropical reef tank display at the Binghamton Ross Park Zoo, a local not for profit zoological park. This display is designed to educate the public about the diversity of marine reef life as well as the current and future threats to their survival. We have and will continue to put on public talks at the display site. The tank has been featured on all local news media including TV and newspapers. We have also already had three frag meets and we are planning trips to Dr. Macs and Atlantis Aquarium (Riverhead, Long Island) where we will receive behind the scenes tours. We also have started a website (http://myreef.org/tierreef/). To join, all one has to do is to drop by our forum and say "hi". There are no dues, and no formal political structure. I am sure that members would be happy to allow their tank photos to be posted. Thank you for considering our request.

Skipper recently wrote back as follows:

Hey Jerry. That's a start, what we'll need you to do is put together an article explaining/describing your club. Any info is welcome: activities, meetings, officers, website... tell the world all about your club, what you do and how you operate. Pictures are good, too. If there are enough of, for example, a club event or member's tanks, etc., then we'll try to make a slideshow.

We'll need to put together some photos of putting together the Zoo tank (Ithink Vince has these) any photos from any frag meets, rock making party etc. Also a few of our personal tank shots, then i can throw an article together.

Excellent Jerry You the man!! I'll shoot you some pictures of the rock party and some of my tank with some infomation for the article.
