Carol, reframing a load bearing wall does require a little engineering, but it's not magic. We did it on our house in Houston and added a wall of windows. The key is an engineered beam to span above the tank and book shelves. That will support the studs avove the area that will be removed where the tank/shelves will be.

Oh yes and also a 4' x 2' kiln for my glass. My garage art studio will be shrinking but I've always have had more than enough room. I've started taping things off to make sure I can live with it - so far not a problem. It's a over sized two car garage -WE CAN DO IT!

I just finished the first coat, have to wait 3 hours before I can sand it...I see some globs on some end spots, guess that means more sanding!
