Shrimp in tank with Ich

So I have an outbreak of Ich in one of my two tanks. I want to do hypo salinity on that tank but it has shrimp in it. I know that Ich does not affect shrimp, but I want to know the best way to get them out of the tank with Ich to the tank without Ich and not infect the other tank.

Try a jar on its side baited with a pretty cocktail hostess shrimp. :D

Just joking but shrimp tend to be cannibalistic to falllen comrades so the jar with grocery store shrimp bait usually works after a few hours.

Getting them shouldn't be a problem. Can I just "wash" them with some freshly made salt water and be confident that the water and anything that could be on them won't be transfered to the other tank?

typically you want to take the fish out and hypo the hospital tank, if you have any coral or crabs/inverts/starfish etc, they will all die to hypo

Thanks for the correction rcerulli. I didn't realize that he was talking about using hypo on the display. You don't want to do that slider unless the tank is bare. Hypo will kill most of the things on the LR, in the sandbed and many other inverts. Use it only in a hospital tank.

tom, I think he is asking if shrimp can take the treatment of hyposalination(as in survive)
I am curious about this too?

No I am not doing hypo on the display. My 20G is the one with ich. I want to take the shrimp from the 20G and put them in the display without bringing ich with them so that I can do hypo on the 20G. I was going to give them a good rinsing to try to flush out any of the theronts, or any other stage of ich before puting them in the display.

yeah--I got that;)
I still am curious if they can take that sort of treatment(hyposalinity)-being invertebrates it is questionable

To my knowlege, ich will not infect a shrimp .There is no reason of which I am aware to believe that any stage of the parasite would be on a shrimp, except perhaps in some of the water on it. I would reacclimate to the new tank via drip method and rinse him off in the acclimation cantainer, perhaps with a turkey baster

It sounds to me like you don't need to hypo the 20. If you leave it fallow (no fish... the shimp's ok) for a month or so, the Ich in it will die from lack of a host. The only thing you should hypo is a bare tank with a fish in it.
