Shutting down tanks

I said a few weeks ago after we had to put my dog to sleep, that I would be shutting down my tanks. Well, the time has come, and I am getting ready to turn off everything. I will be out of the country for a month starting next Saturday (12/20), so everything is up for grabs. Here is what I have for now :

55 gallon Freshwater planted Tank and cabinet stand . Heavily planted, with three rainbows, and a few cherry barbs. Eheim 2215 canister filter, Coralife PC w/4x65W PC Lights. Will need new tubes. Tank has been In continuous operation since 1994.

38 Gallon "softie tank" & cabinet stand with 2x96W Custom SeaLIfe PC & moonlites (will also need new tubes), PriZm Deluxe Skimmer. In operation for about six years. Need a good home for my Yellow Tang and serpent star, both have been with the tank since the start. CaribSea sand bed (~1" deep) and ~40 lbs of rock. Tank has a bunch of zoas which are not doing too well, primarily because the lights are shot, and some other softies. It also has a huge rock with about eight heads of hairy mushrooms that started with a 2" rock I got from Marvin a few years ago. He gave it away "because it was not doing anything" - he should see it now !! This will make a good "starter tank" for some one just for the price of a set of new lights.

30g Tank with homebuilt stand drilled bottom rear right corner with ~10-12 lbs of rock and sand bed.

You can check out pics of tanks in better days in my gallery.

All of the above available to any taker, live stock must go first, definitely by this weekend. After that I will empty the tanks and if you still want anything I may be able to hold them for pickup after I return next month.

I am not asking for any money for anything, but will appreciate any donations you may want to make to the "Patches Fund" to the West End Animal Clinic in Radford, where we are setting up a fund to help folks with costs for lab tests for their pets. Alternatively donate to your local animal shelter.

Hopefully I will start back sometime when things settle down a bit - so Matt I will still need that reactor ... :)

PM or email if you need more details.

Shivaji , If you don't find a place for the planted tank I would like to give it a a good home...

Thanks. I have had it a long time, and my wife was upset when she heard I was giving it up, but at this point I just do not feel I can do justice to it and the other tanks.

Would you like the whole tank with cabinet, plants & fishes or did you just want the tank ? I live in Radford and you would have to get a pickup truck to haul it away.

I would like the yellow tang.

You can have the tang and the star. I also have a blue-green damsel if you want - it is very friendly, unlike most damsels and gets along fine with the tang.

I live in Radford. Call me at work 276 223-4810 if you want to set up a time to pick them up tomorrow.

I may be interested in some of the stuff. I'll send a PM.

Evan and Mike will be coming by at 10 AM tomorrow for the 38 gallon and the tang/star. Let me know what you are interested in and I will see what we can do.

Shivaji , I would like to take the whole thing and keep it complete.. I will need to find a pick up truck... When do you need/want it gone by?

Eric and I are going to head down in the morning, we'll probably leave sometime between 9 and 10. I'll call you once we sort out some details.

OK Guys - here is the status.

The 38 gallon and all live rock in that and the 30 gallon are gone. nbmaxx13 is to pick up the 55 gallon tank/stand tomorrow.

Still got the 30 gallon tank and stand if anyone wants it.

I will take the 30 Gallon if noone else wants it. Really don't know when i could make it up that way though is the problem...

nbMaxx13 will be coming tomorrow morning for the 55 gallon, if you want to coordinate with him.

I will be out of the country for a month from next Saturday, so if you still want it after I get back on 1/19, that will be fine. Maybe the next time you come this way for a reef meet or something ...

I will Pm him and see if he has enough room to haul all the tanks...

I will also send a little contribution up with him for the tank as well to contribute to the fund

im wondering about the Coralife PC w/4x65W PC Lights, how long and do you still have them, and as for donations i would donate but where at, and i would feal bad if i didnt considering your giving away all this for free.

Matt

Matt,

The Coralife lights go with the 55 gal. freshwater tank, and I have someone interested in taking the whole setup. I will let you know if that falls through fo rany reason. FYI the light assembly is 4' long and sits on spacers which raise it off the tank - something like this. I bought it used from a seller on ReefCentral and replaced the lights about 18 months ago - still good for a FW tank..

OK 55 gallon has been picked up by Ade/Eric. Just have the drilled 30 gal. and stand left. The basement is dark and real quiet :(

I will be out for four weeks so if anyone is planning on sending checks for the "Patches Fund" hold off until the first week of January when my wife gets back.

Happy Holidays to all :) :) :)
