Sicce 2.0 pump failure

My sicce 2.0 pump that was bought brand new and has been running since 10/2016 just failed. When plugged into the outlet, i can hear the motor vibrating, but the propeller isn't spinning.

i have taken it apart to see if there is anything lodged in it, but there isnt anything...

Has anyone had any issues with their sicce pumps?

have any siggestions on how to fix?

is anyone aware of a warranty or ever reached out to sicce for a replacement?

Never used Sicce's customer service, but from BRS's web site: "3 Year Manufacturer's Warranty with online registration"

Where did you get the pump? Do you still have your receipt?

The most likely cause is some calcium build up on the impeller, although it's pretty quick for that to happen if you just got it in October. A couple of things to try while you're contacting Sicce- first, check to see if the impeller spins easily by hand. Then I'd try taking it out and soaking it in some vinegar to remove any deposits. Ditto with the inside of the pump.

I've been able to 'jump start' pumps by taking a pen and helping the impeller to start rotating, but generally if you need to do that then there's something else wrong that you need to address.

I had one that did that from time to time. I'd just knock it with my hand or against the wall while on and it would kick into gear. After a while it stopped doing that and ran like normal again. Not sure what it is but I think sometimes it just sticks.

just reached out to BRS, I am almost positive I registered it (I do with all my equipment, can never be too safe in this hobby)... I will keep you posted...

meanwhile, the pump is sitting in a water + vinegar bath, but I didn't see any substantial calcium deposits when I took it apart but crossing my fingers. thanks all for the insight....

after a 12hr water + vinegar bath, the pump is operational. must have been calcium after all, and seeing as how i dose calcium in the same reservoir as where the pump sits, i am almost positive that was the issue.

i was contacted by BRS, and they advised i reach out directly to Sicce, which i did last night, but have not received a response and as the pump is running once again, i don't intend to follow up.

thanks again for your suggestions and good luck with your own pumps!

Pretty normal for AC pumps. Sometimes you can tap them and they'll start working, sometimes you'll need to tear them apart to clean. Good practice to clean every six months or so anyway.
