sick carpet after adding salt.

Ive been slowly increasing my salinity from 1.020 to 1.026 currently im just at 1.022 maybe ive had my green carpet for about three months or so and hes been doing fine. for the last two days his mouth has be gaping really wide. what should i do to help this guy.

Also, I would double check your salinity.....check it with a different instrument to make sure yours isn't off.

How did you raise the specific gravity?

I think it is unlikely that a change from sg = 1.020 to 1.022 has caused the problem unless you actually added dry salt to the tank and some landed on the anemone.

In general, you should making salinity changes slowly, in this case by topping off for evaporation with salt water.

Sorry it took so long for a reply. I will post my params when I get home but I was adding dry salt to my sump. since then ive added it to my top off water which is just a simple gravity fed top off. The day after I posted this his mouth closed and he seemed to be doing better. But even still he isnt looking a 100 percent. My salinity was low and ive just now started to correct it.
