Sick Gigantea

Day two in quarantine. Not started treatment yet.
I *think* it's looking a little better. It certainly seems to hold its shape better and is more folded than before and it's 'stem' has shrunk down do its not blowing about in the current so much.
However..... It's mouth is still open to some extent for the majority of the time and it completely deflates about an hour before lights off until an hour or so after lights on......So I'm going to do a 75% water change tonight and begin treatment at 25mg/gal.

If that's about as open as the mouth gets, then thats perfectly normal for a gig thats not 100% settled. Also if its deflating towards the end of the light cycle as you state. I would suspect its the intensity of the light. Try raising the light up if you can.

It's usually much more open than that, up to 3-4 cm at times. Don't think it's had too much light as my other one seems to want more and more light, expanding more in response. Also, I've tried it positioned in several places, including right on the edge of the cover from my power module, and it doesn't seem to make a difference.

Sorry Tim, presumed it had started deflating since you moved it to the QT, so thought it may be reacting to different lighting.

Well, I'm really pleased to say that the p stint seems to be going from strength to strength, looking stronger and healthier every day. The mouth now stays firmly shut the vast majority of the time and it's not deflated completely (still some shrinkage at night) for a couple of days. Going to continue treatment until Sunday and then put back in my display.

glad to see yet another successfull treatment, or at least "very positive" response from treatment!

When you put it back in the DT please update with picture. thanks

Treatment finished today and the signs are good. I've not seen the mouth open at all since my last post and it's stayed inflated (a little shrunk at night) too. Its column still stretches much more than the blue gig in my display, as it always has.
Going to transfer it back to the display in the next day or two, will post pictures then.

They certainly do. Ive got 2 MP40s on the tank which is only 34 x 26 x 20 and they seem perfectly happy with both of the pumps on full pelt! I have to turn down the flow a bit to keep the LPS happy.
