simple clownfish breeding setup help

Was thinking about giving this try and was wondering what the most simple setup would be for a pair to breed in. I know there is a lot more to it once they start breeding but until the pair actually starts breeding I would like to maintain just a simple setup for the adults. Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance.

Why not just set up a 10g tank with some rock, heater, maybe small powerhead. Kinda like a little nano tank and just keep them there. It would be easy to remove future eggs and a simple setup if you werent gonna breed more than one pair.

I thought bout that...would a HOB filter be necessary and would u think bare bottom would be easiest for cleaning purposes?

If you are breeding for profit, you can use a 10 gal tank, but you need a pretty good filter to handle the heavy feeding. Most people who use 10 gal tanks for breeding have several tanks hooked up to a central filtering system.

When I was breeding, I used 20 gal. tanks and set them up like little reefs with sumps and skimmers. I also used anemones (which very few people do), which meant good lighting. I found that my clowns bred more consistently and sooner, if they had an anemone.
Sometimes I was able to get clowns to lay on tiles, most of the time I just collected the fry with a flashlight and a scoop. In my case I was able to collect 100-200 fry with a scoop, which was plenty when it got time to sell. If you start collecting every batch of eggs (~every 10 days), it gets overwhelming pretty quickly even if you are just scooping. If you are good at raising the babies, you will have thousands of to sell in 6 month which is usually way more than you can sell in your local area. I also felt that I was getting only the strongest babies when I used the flashlight/scoop method of collection.

You can use 10g, but its hard to keep nitrates in check. I went from 10g setup, to a 40g breeder split into 5 compartments and plumbed to a sump. This allows you more stability, room for equipment, and I can fit 10 clownfish in 36" of length which is pretty darn efficient for space. Plus it's not fun doing multiple water changes on multiple tanks.

Sweet thanks for the inputs I only plan on doing one pair right now so probably 10g with over sized filter... just something easy don't want to overwhelm myself off the bat

Get the $1 ceramic tiles from lowes. Make sure they have a grid pattern on them so when you try to lean them, they stay put. Most breeders if using tiles do one on the floor, one on the wall and then one on top of the one on the ground leaning against the one on the wall.
