Simple question about VHO lighting

I can only fit one VHO actninc bulb in my canopy (with my halides) and was wondering if it is ok to just run 1 - 110w vho bulb on a 220w vho ballast? There is a great price on one at hellolights.com, would put the entire retro for 1 bulb at $65, but not sure if there is a minimum wattage that should run through the ballast.

depends on if it's wired for 1 bulb or 2

yes, you can run less wattage of lights through the ballast
but if it's wired for 2 bulbs, it won't fire
