Simple Sump

I will be making a DIY 15 gallon sump for my 40 gallon reef tank. Being that the sump is small, Will I be ok with only making two sections. I plan on making an area just for the return pump and the other area would be for all other equipment (protein skimmer, heaters, reactor pumps probes). Any benefits to having more sections?

I think there are benefits to having a larger sump with more sections. I don't know that there would be much benefit in having more sections in a 15 gallon sump.
