Sirjohn's 92 Gallon Corner

Thanks Tom. It really took off after I put in the phosban reactor and my phosphates dropped. Also, after I started dosing CA and Alk automatically using the LitermeterIII.

I added an RBTA on Wednesday, but unfortunately it has decided to settle in the rear corner of the tank and I've barely seen it. The clowns found it though and are hosting. I'm hoping he'll move to better light though, because as it stands it's not enough light for him and I can't really feed it where he is at the moment... frustrating to say the least...

Here's an update. First, some new inhabitants! All fish were purchased from liveaquaria.com (not at the same time of course). Big thumbs-up for liveaquaria.

One of three Bartlett's Anthias, a male. He is much more pink in person:

Finally, a recent full tank shot. Added my first coral, some orange skirt, pink centered zoos:

The colors on that Camera Hog Wrasse :) are amazing...makes me want to get one. So far I must say that is a nice fish selection. Are the rbta and the clowns still in the back of the tank?

Thank you for the comments everyone.

Hey Pacific. Unfortunately, the RBTA and GSM clown pair remain in the rear corner of the tank. The clowns venture out to the front every once in a while, but not a lot. Good news is, the RBTA looks okay and is expanding pretty well. I think I have managed to get some food into it using a long, thin feeding stick, but I can't confirm if it ate it or not, since I can't see its mouth. I will try to get a picture tonight and post it to see if anyone has any ideas on how to get it to move.

Is the stand and canopy custom built?

FUA, the stand and canopy were built by BRI Custom Aquatics out of Jacksonville, Florida.

The easiest way to get a RBTA to move in my experience is to put a maxijet powerhead temporarily in the tank and point it at the RBTA. I'm not talking full on flow directly on the little guy, but some directed flow and increase it as necessary. This will probably cause it to shrink up and it's likely to move soon after. The problem is there's no telling where it will move to :-). Good luck with the nem....my one turned into four and I've been trying to keep them away from my SPS ever since.

Absolutely gourgeous! The guts and brains are as clean an installation as I have seen. I love your sump/fuge set up. Glad to see a good close up of the Tunze 9010, I am looking at building a new sump with the same.

I'll be tagging along, look forward to seeing the progress.

Great looking set-up.

I like how meticulously everything was done. You really did your homework!

checked out BRI's huge website at http://www.briaquaticcabinets.com/index.html.

great site and builder from what it looks like, haven't gotten to the price part yet but you can't pay too much for quality.

Agreed FAU. BRI stands/canopies are not cheap, but the craftmanship is superb. I highly recommend them if you can wing it.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I think I am going to try the powerhead idea again. I tried it when it first moved to that spot without success, but perhaps I should give it another shot. I am going to try and get a (side) picture of where it is when the lights come on.

Okay, here's a picture of where my RBTA has decided to call home for the last 3 weeks or so. It may look bleached in this picture but it isn't really (not yet anyways); the camera and the difficulties in getting a good shot are to blame.

Lighting is ~400 watts T5, combo of 36" and 24" bulbs spread out evenly over the tank. The anemone is located about halfway up the tank, in the corner, and the lighting above it is not too strong. Flow is provided by 2 Vortechs which are usually set at 1/3 or 1/2 power each. Flow in the back where the anemone is located is probably on the low end of the flow in the tank, although by design there are no dead areas in the tank (notice how much space is left between the overflow and the rock wall in the back--which may be contributing to the problem I know).

I am a bit puzzled as to why the anemone chose this spot, as it doesn't appear to be the ideal spot for it. I'd like to move it for obvious reasons, including the "selfish" one that I can't see it nor the maroon clowns!

I tried the powerhead idea once early on without success, but I am thinking of trying it again.

Any and all other ideas on how to get it to move are welcome and appreciated!

I have had to move my Blue Haddoni twice and basically if I poke at him enough he will detach. I've heard the powerhead thing works but never has for me. Are you feeding it? I'd stop if you are. If its not getting what it needs it will move. Can you block the light even more?...

Rkelman: Thanks for the advice. I am feeding it atm, but since it looks healthy, I am going to stop and see what happens. I can also block the light some by pointing the individual Icecap T5 reflector(s) above the RBTA away from him. Finally, I am going to point a powerhead at it again. Hopefully, the combination of these things will make it move.

Carlos: Thanks for the comment!
