six line in hiding

i recently got a six line for my 40 gallon sps reef, after the first 5 days i noticed it had all of the sudden dissapeared so i tear up my tank to find it. i see it wedged between two rocks and covered in mucus so im thinking oh crap hes dead! what a waste of 25 bucks! but then i lift up the rock and he swims off, but then after a few hours he went right back to that spot and kinda just sat there in his mucus cover. is this common? i dont keep many wrasses. do you think its mainly acclimation?

hes been in the tank 10 days, just msot of the fish i introduce would be out in the open swimming their butts off because a friend of mine has a couple in his tank and they are one of the most active swimmer sin his tank

I agree that their active, Mine is none stop now, But it took 4-5 days for it to come out, And it was the 3rd in the tank... What else do you have in the tank, That might make it wanna hide?

Not to worry you, but all the 5 or so six lines I have/had will be swimming around after a few hours (if that long). All your fishes listed above don't post any risk to the SLW, so not sure why he's hiding in his coccon for? Usually they use it only for sleeping.

I have a SLW in my sump and he swims back and forth through out the rocks. My bigger one in my FOWLR swims back and forth b/w the rocks too and he's one of the smallest fish among giants (Triggers/Angels/Tangs) and they don't faze him.

Hopefully yours come around soon.

when i disturb him like move the rock hes wedged in hell swim around for several hours, but after that hes back in it. i dont know what could be causing this
