sixline aggressive toward clownfish, will they ever get along?

I got a clownfish today and put it in my tank. I have a sixline and a chromis (I'm going to take him out to reduce bioload) and I thought the sixline would be friendly towards the clown. But I was wrong and now the clownfish is regulated to the front right corner part of the tank... my question is will the sixline ever get used to the clownfish being in the tank? He doesn't alway attack it, only if the clownfish ventures around the tank will he go at her. My tank is small 12gallon...

any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks

I had a sixline and a perc clown together in a 30 gallon. They got along very well. I would think that the aggression should subside once terratories are established.

Have you thought about rearranging the rockscape? This has worked in my tank when introducing new livestock. It encourages the established inhabitants to seek and establish new terratory, instead of defending their current one.

I had the mother of all 6-lines in my 300g, ignored numerous clowns, decided it did not like a pair of black ocellaris. Harassed them endlessly, even after removing the clowns for 6 weeks and removing the wrasse for 6 weeks. Mattered little, that wrasse immediately went back after the pair and ignored the other clowns in the tank.

After having the wrasse 4+ years, he was sent to a new home.

All fish are different, but it may never work out. Come up with a plan now to save hassles later if it does not.

My Sixline used to harass my Moorish Idol, one day the wrasse met his maker (intake covering of Emperor 400 fell off). He is in fishy heaven harassing the fish in the sky now.

I have a sixline and two perculas in a 24 gallon, they will be upgraded to a 58g sometime this summer. The sixline likes to charge at the clowfish but has never actually damaged them. I introduced the sixline about 4 months after the two perculas. I believe this is recommended as they are territorial. I agree with rearragning the rock work a bit, this may confuse the sixline into thinking the clownfish is a supposed to be part of the new arrangment. He certainly does not like my percs when the male does the waggle, he won't tolerate that in HIS tank.
Good luck.

Yep my sixline was a SOB in my old 30G towards my perc then moved everthing to a 50gal and put sixline in QT for a month then back in with the clowns they all get along fine now.
