I have had my foxface for a year now and he still hides everytime I go around the tank. When I first get to the tank he flicks his top fins to warn me I guess. Read alot people seemed to have some with hood personality. Any tricks to get him to show.

Funny I have an orange spot rabbit and a fox face I've had for quite a while and they hide every time anyone walks by.

I've had my one spot for about 6 months, same thing, very skittish. I've read a lot a people really seem to love theirs.... I can't say I'd be inclined to buy another one.

My one spot is pretty outgoing and friendly in my 90. He hides more when the LEDs go on than when people are near the tank. In fact, he assumes he's about to be fed if somebody stands near the tank, and proceeds to swim to the top in hopes of a meal.

All Foxfaces are "skittish" :) My Magnificent is in my 125 that is in my living room, which has tons of activity all day. So it is pretty used to people walking, running, jumping, etc near the tank. It will still quickly hide if you startle it, but otherwise if anyone just walks up casually to the tank, it does not run and hide. Mine is the first in line to eat every night and eats from my hands.

One OT note is that I would never house a Foxface in an open top tank. Mine has caused almost all of my fish to hit my clear mesh screen at one one point or another from it being startled!

Can I do anything to bring him out. He is in a 110 with one green chrome. Should I just get other fish and be done.

Is your tank lightly stocked? I think they do better with other fish. Less skittish at least mine is that way.

I have a foxface and a yellow tang. They are buddies and the tang seems to give him confidence. He still hides if I come up to the tank quickly but otherwise is out a lot.

Try hand feeding your Foxface. Once they're eating out of your hand, it doesn't take long for them to start greeting you like a puppy when you walk into the room.
