Skimmer Comparison - ATB 840 vs Vertex IN-100

The Vertex is new, however the ATB has been running on a couple of different systems around here for at least a couple of months now.

The amount of skimmate buildup inside the neck of the ATB is more. The neck diameter and height of the ATB is larger as well, so there is more surface area there, which definitely helps it.

I would really like to be able to get a 1050A to try out and see how it compares to some of the others.

Jermemy,

Is it possible to toss in one of the new bk minis?

It would be great to see how one of the "little guys" can fair against the bigger newer skimmers. especially for people with tight spaces.

I have ran the 160, 180, and 200 on multiple size systems in the past 2.5yrs or so, so I probably won't hook one of those up right away. After I get some of these newer ones done I will however do a comparison with the Mini's again.

Also, as a side note the ATB 840 Demo has been sold.

Thanks,
Jeremy

yes that is a great show ,however when you have 2 skimmers in one sump they would and will compete against each other. and you cant really compare on two separate systems, due to the fact that each tank would be totally different.

Remember that i well rated skimmer will only pull out what is there and then once its had cleaned that water it wont really pull what it's in there.

a skimmer skimmer will continue to pull crap out making it look like its rocking all the time.

I noticed air silencer is unhooked.....I have the in-180 and it keeps overflowing.....seems like that hole on silencer keeps getting clogged which causes the over flow. Can I just unhook like in the pic with no problems?

The silencer is just that, something to dampen the sound made by the skimmer's pump sucking in air... Disconnecting it will not have any effect on the skimmer's performance...
