I've talked to several people and someone had a post awhile back
on keeping skimmer on 24/7.

Some have said that they have turned it off for the night and just kept powerheads running. since there's less need for it due to inactivity of the fish.

Almost everyone has said keep it on 24/7 with just turning it off for certain things, maintaince, feedings of corals etc.

I think running it 24/7 puts less strain on the system.

What do you think?

Why turn it off. Might cost you a couple more bucks to run it 24/7. The only time mines turned off is when I soak it in Viniger to clean it.

I recently started turning off my skimmer and carbon from 8pm to 1 am, and I feed the corals around the time that it goes off. I figure it will help keep the food in suspension a little longer so the corals can capture it.

oxygen is crucial at nighttime, when it becomes used drastically...therefore, skimmer is especially useful at night time.
