Skimmer foaming way too much!

I'm new to this saltwater game.

Tunze 9012 dc on 65 gallon sumpless tank.
Cycle just finished and have done 2 small water changes in a few days to lower nitrates.
0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 40ppm nitrate before this 10% water change.

It's been 4 hours since I changed 10% water with rodi mixed with red sea coral pro. I've had to dump the collection cup probably 10 times in the past 4 hours. It fills up so fast. Same thing happened last water change but didn't last this long. Skimmer is turned all the way down now and still doing it.

Anything I'm doing wrong?

Can you turn down the amount of air going into the skimmer? It is possible it is getting too much air. Skimmers often take a good amount of adjustment and tuning to run properly.

I think the controller does that? I have it turned all the way down now. Was skimming good at about 1/8 up until the water change.

im not familiar with this skimmer. but if you raise the skimmer up so it doesnt sit so far into the water lots of times that will help with over skimming.

Skimmers can pull snits like that: oil in the water (hand lotion) et al. When this happens, watch your salinity---overmuch dumping of the waste cup plus your ATO making-up can tilt that.

gotcha. Thanks for the tips. I didnt feed anything out of the normal stuff I feed.

I raised the skimmer a tad. I plugged it in after work today and its acting normal now. Just getting to know the equipment. Its all new to me. I appreciate the help
