skimmer is acting strange

Ive had my skimmer about 4 months or more. (coral life super skimmer)

Ive woken up a few times to find it full of clean water and dripping down the wall. whatever i guess

tonight i peaked over while getting a snack, and its overflowing. the only time it does this is when my hands are in the tank or a waterchange.

anybody have any guesses as to what could be going on in there tonight? I peaked. nothing spawning, or looking weird....

lights have been off about 2 1/2 hours

Skimmers sometimes act strangely. Mine seems to do something similar from time to time, but I've never understood why.

Did you add anything like iodine?
Skimmers will go nuts when certain addatives such as iodine are added. You have to adjust them or turn them off when you do.

Doesn't even take iodine...some calcium sups, or the most common thing, water de-chlorinizer (sp?) that you add when you do water changes with tap water?

I'm not sure about your skimmer, but mine tells me to turn the skimming part off for about 24 hours after I do a water change, but if I've added to much de-chlorinizer it takes about 72 hours before it stops skimming clean water.

Its just starting to skim agian now (morning)

I did find a lettece nudi sucked into my auqaclear.. wasent quite dead, but thats all i see out of place

I think i have read somewhere (not sure were) that the oils and things in your skin can cause this kind of thing to happen, i could be wrong though!!

no i think your right. along with soaps and lotion. my skimmer gos stupid when i place even a few fingers in the tank.
