drae, so you think that the review on marinedepot on the em200 about needing to place water level at 8 3/4 inches to remove splashing sound was in reference to the em100??? the reason im asking is cause my sump would need to be altered if it needs to be placed any deeper than 7"
thanks for the help.
How much bioload are you planning on having? Or, how many cubes/day do you plan to feed?
Drae or anyone else... Please help me out!
I have a H&S A200 on my 215 gallon mostly SPS tank. I am planning an upgrade to a 300 or 400 gallon display tank. I know the H&S A200 is supposed to be rated up to 300 gallons but is it still a good skimmer. How much better are the new skimmers compaired to what I have now. If I were to buy a new skimmer for my 300 or 400, which one should I get.
For bigger tanks I like the non space saving models. Are you looking at external or internal models?
I have always preferred an external skimmer because I like the look a little better but it really doesn't matter. What are the pros and cons of an internal vs external? The stand will be 36" to 40" tall and I will have plenty of space so a non space saving model is fine.
Your H&S is still as good as any other skimmer on the market, it is well balanced and the only issue would be the pumps, the impellers do tend to lose strength over time. As far as the skimmer design, it is still one of the best producing skimmers around, excellent contact time (which contrary to popular belief) is very important. You can certainly replace it if you want, but I would hang onto it if you do, you may find it works better, depending on the bio-load in the tank.

How are the Sedra pumps on the aquamaxx
The 350 on marine depot had them on it
I saw on another site the 500 with the sicce. I may get that one instead. It pulls less air than skimz dc 203, but it has 10" body
