What about feed pump for external app.. They recomend a 600 gph, is the water blaster HY 3000WB, rated at 750GPH to big? I've heard good things about the Water Blaster pumps.:reading:
i thought it was better to have the highest gallon rating you can from a good skimmer. the sea side and octo xs 200 are only rated at 200 gallons. the sro 3000 int will work. if i was thinking wrong let me know.
about 2x system volume. I wouldnt overdue it. the wb pumps are nice. the 2000 would probably be better.

answered your pm. Have to raise it up a little. but should be fine.Hi All,
I bought a new Sicce PSK 1000 skimmer pump for my ATB 840 v1.5 and hooked it up last night. It is in 7" of water and I could not get it to stop overflowing the collection cup. Got any ideas?

yea I made this thread so I didnt have to search through all the other ones. No biggie.
Roger, by the looks of your pump I would assume you have the octo nw 200. That is the pinwheel that comes with it and it works well. Some have that wheel and tied fish string around it the have it chop up the bubbles a bit finer. But the most popular mod on this skimmer pump is the mesh mod. If you google it you will see a good # of pics ect. But you will need some mesh enkamat. and somereally small zip ties. The thing is you really need to cut off a row of your stock pins to do this. So you should be really comfortable with what you are doing before attempting this. if you dont cut the row of pins off and the mesh it would hit the volute cover. But point in short. I would just keep it stock and let it roll.
Mojo...I am looking for a HOB skimmer that meets the following for my 40g breeder SPS:
1- quiet
2- design decreses or eliminates microbubbles returning to DT
3- can actually skim
Is it just me or are all of the rectangle HOB skimmers just CPR Bak Pak's on steroids? Can a rectangle chamber produce like a cylindrical?
The pump on the Eshopps PSK-100H is too loud for my taste(~69db).
I've been reading through skimmer threads for a few days and find myself totally lost. I'm restarting my 75 g reef and find that my old euroreef skimmer needs a new pump. Rather than replace that I'd rather put the money towards a new skimmer. So the current tank is about 85g total, but I plan to put together a 140-170 g total volume reef within the next year when I move. Ideally I'd like to get a skimmer that will work now, but also handle the larger tank. I know this is a big jump in size and the gap may be too big to find one that will handle both sizes, but I figured it was worth checking! So, I'd appreciate any advice on this. If not possible I'd also appreciate advise on what would work best for the current tank. I guess I'd like to stay under $500 also.
Thanks!
