Skimmer Recommendations

I'm looking for a new skimmer for approximately a 500 gal system. I've had a
Royal Exclusiv Bubble King Supermarin 300. The RD1500 pump has quit on me twice and replacing parts for this skimmer is getting expensive. What would you recommend? I might be interested in a used one also.

Check out MTC Skimmers ( MVX Series ) awesome skimmers, it you want more performance just increase pump size...

LifeReef hands down, you will only need to buy one skimmer for the duration of the time you are in this hobby.

For that large of a system I would definitely call up Jeff at MTC or Jeff at Lifereef and get a 48 to 72" model.

My preference would be a MTC dual venturi.

There's a lot of these threads. There is actually one that's been running for many years and many pages long called Skimmer Q&A made just for these questions.

I love my lifereef... I recently fired one up that was over 15 years old. the only thing you may ever need replacing is a pump over time. they will accommodate any pump. I would recommend using a dc pump for extra fine tuning.
