Skimmer swap?

I'm just throwing it out there to see if anythings around, otherwise I'll probably try to sell it & buy something smaller.

I have a Super Reef Octo SSS3000INT that I really think is a bit much for my new smaller system (total water will be about 150g). It was huge even when it was on my 240 gallon system.

I probably will say no, but in the off chance someone's sitting in something good, anyone looking to trade up in size?

Otherwise I'd sell for $350

Was well over $500 new.

I run the sro-3000 on my tank (non-space saver) and it pulls skimmate very well. I have a 125 that is moderately stocked and it's oversized, but I haven't had a problem with the output. That's a good deal in my eyes. GLWS!

How high are you running water inside the skimmer body? I tried all different depths and never really got great production. I was thinking it was perhaps overkill. Only other thing I could think of was it was in a touch too deep. But I thought that might be reaching.

Mine is sitting on a platform that sets is just below 6" at the waterline, with the bubbles stopping about a half inch from the neck. It pulls gross, dark skimmate and I need to empty it about every 5-6 days. It's quite a large collection cup and I try to keep that in mind when I look at what it's pulled out. I actually got slightly better production when I had a heavier carbon dosing schedule but my corals started looking really washed out and their color greatly improved when I backed off.

Definitely agree with you on the carbon dosing. I was dosing vodka & vinegar and skimmate production was probably double, but still not as impressive as I thought it should be. I still think I want to downsize for space and energy conservation.

I'm a bit confused. Are you looking for something with a smaller footprint? Bc i just looked that up. I think it's basically my NWB200 on steroids... lol
Let me know bc I'd be happy to work some deal with you.
