Hi group. I'm looking to buy a skimmer for my 120g mixed reer. I want a skimmer that's rated for tanks 200+.

1. What's your tank size and skimmer.

2. Why or why dont you like your skimmer.

3. Got a skimmer for sale?

I found an AquaC EV-180 Protein Skimmer With Mag-Drive 7 Pump used for 250. I think I may need a bigger skimmer than that. What do you think?

I had a ER 135 rs on my heavily stocked 180 and that was a good skimmer it would pull out some NASTY stuff but a little under sized.I recently up graded to a ASM G3 w/ recirculating Sedra 5000 mesh mod and gate valve mod. This thing is sick!Super easy to tune and it pulls out some funk. And they are a sweet skimmer for the $$$.I would definitely recommend at least the recirculating mod and feed the skimmer form your overflow or at least a portion of it.

Good luck!

I have a DAS EX1 on my 60 cube. Great skimmer it is what you call a plug and play skimemr no need to fine tune this baby. It is ready right out of the box and also better made than an ASM.

You could get a DAS EX2 and it would punish your tank:)

I use the tried and tested Euroreef CS 6-2 on my 90.

Who has done the mesh mod on their pumps? I have always thought of doing this.

I have an Euro Reef RS80 on my 30 tank and love that thing!!!

I'm in the process of setting up my Red Sea Classic Venturi so I'll tell you how that runs when I get it running :)

yoboyjdizz and edsimmons did you do the recirculation mod on your skimmers or were they recirculating when you bought them? I have 3 ER skimmers and I'm thinking about moding one to recirc so I can run it outside of the sump.

It's real hard to seal all the ports on the skimmer body even w/ uniseals.

I bought my skimmer used it was already modded.

Skimmer on my 145g reef is a DIY, bored out Kent venturi before a Mag 5, fed only by an overflow box of 20 linear inches less than 1/8" below the water's surface, around $90.

Thanks for the input guys. That reeflo is awesome, but there's no way I would spend that much money on a skimmer! Those are for the guys who only have ONE hobby. ;) I have about 15 hobbies to support. Anybody have experience with the AquaC skimmers? I'll check out the ASM's. I know a good skimmer is big dollars so I'm totally ok with used aquipment. No way I'm dropping 800.00+ on a piece that cost more than the entire tank AND reef controller combined! ;)

If lighter bioload, ATi Bubblemaster 160, heavier biload, BM200. I have a BM160 on a 90g mixed reef, it performs like a beast. I would bypass AquaC(rap).

I have a ASM G3 (no mods) that has been used for about 10 months. I am getting a new skimmer next weekend and will be selling this one. I will let it go for $150.

Rob, what's up man? I just bought an ATI Bubblemaster 250 for my 150 gal based on thestrength of its reviews on R/C. It seemed like the most powerful skimmer for the $$ in the price range I was looking. I have yet to run it, however I'm sure it will perform well.

The Bubblemaster 200 (next smallest size) should be more than enough for your tank. I was thinking about the 200 as well but I wanted a slightly larger skimmer. I got mine on reefgeek.
