Skimmer?

I know what you mean about building your own stuff. I built my own large skimmer which was interesting. I have never tried because I couldn't drill holes in a full glass 120 gallon tank. I saved money if it will work.
I have just been looking at Nano stuff and found this skimmer. I don't know how quiet it is or how well it works but for the price I don't think you can beat it provided it works.
There is a book you can get which explains how much flow through a counter current skimmer. Do more web research and you will probably find the dimensions and flow requirements. It is a mathematical formula.
Good luck. If you enjoy building then build one, if you want one that works with the least trouble possible buy one.
