Skimmerless tanks??

Set up a sea grass refugium at least as large as the main tank (which enough sand to maintain the sea grass roots), add some sandbed clams and other goodies in there too.

Mike,
You don't know Dex that well. He'll try to get away with a 10g sump if he could, let alone a large refugium.

Dex it can be done, but IMO you'll need to do alot more work to remove the excess nutriants the skimmer gets out.....as others have written already, larger fuge, more water changes etc...also reducing the bioload will help, but that means removing some fish..:(

ah yes..... another 180..........mmmmwaaaahahahahahaha!

Mike, the only way fish goes out my tank is in a (body) zip bag, ever since KathyC made me those tank covers, I have had no jumpers.

I wonder what I could take out first........
17 Anthias
6 wrasses
6 Angels ( all dwarfs)
1 Hog fish
1 Clown
1 chromis
1 Tang

maybe I should add another skimmer.....LOL

Jim, home tank, thats also why Im trying to find ways to keep trimming time away from tank care, FOWLR was one of them. I just do water changes at this time, taking away the skimmer was another idea, but it just not happening.

Can you say-Automatic Water Changer!!!
Best thing I incorporated.Haven't done a manuel WC in a year and a half, yet its get done every day.
Priceless.

Chris,
you would have to see this one to believe it. I have been in Jim's place countless times, as he explains things it seems easily duplicated, then half way home I realize Im an idiot.

Hey Dex, After you set up your large refuge you can help me with mine:D , also did you get my PM about the salt?

Thanks

You can set up a water exchange system with a Litermeter III and additional remote water exchange module for about $500.
