anyone intertested in cerith snails?

Mine breed like rabbits and I always have several hundred.

Bring all the nassarius and ceriths that you can get your hands on to the meetig. Between me, Chris and Adam, we'll take them off your hands.

What can I get for 10 bucks? lol I have blue legged hermit crabs and a banded shrimp.. But I need some snails for the glass.. Oh wait.. Nevermind.. Just remembered I won't be able to make the meeting..

the nassarious snails that i have been collecting dont really do much for the glass they are mostly for left over food decaying/dead stuff and sifting through the sand.
im waiting for the right time of year when the astrea snails come back now there awesome grazers and glass cleaners

this is a quote off of Dr. Foster's and Smith's "The Cerith Snail is extremely difficult to breed in captivity. "

but then didnt someone just say that their breeds like rabbits. i think they are just trying to get you to buy more. lol :)

Hey Mrferrit. Let me know if you need any help catching some of those. I got a hobie kayak that I havent taken out in a while. Would love to meet up with someone that likes to kayak anyways.

I can carry a good bucket on the back of my kayak. :)

I live maybe a mile away from the weedon island launch.

Holla!

Try looking for the nassarius in the exposed grass flats along the shore at low tide. If you walk around the area you will find them clinging to the strands of grass or if you wait for a minute then retrace your steps you will find them in your footprints. They move really fast for a snail so they are easier to see. If you slowly turn over rocks that are underwater and have a net handy you can catch peppermint shrimp, sea cucumbers, starfish and hermit crabs. Ceriths can be found in huge numbers in late June and July when they mate. I have found that if you have access, the little spoil islands have tons of stuff around them. I can spend hours snorkeling around the little spoils in our area and never lift my head ot of the water.

I thought of getting a peppermint shrimp while I was at the LFS the other day.. But I was afraid my banded shrimp might think I was bringing him a nice snack.. = )

the white ones are less aggressive in my experience. there are two kinds, on stays small, one gets big. dont take big ones and you will be fine.
