Slakker's Eclipse 12 Build Thread (Sorry, 56kers)

well i am glad everythings going so well with your clowns and everything now..i got rid of my eclipse hood all together too and have some t5's on my 12..i got zoo's, some leather, toadstool, mushrooms, xenia, and gsp. would like to have a halide for sure though nice grab!

should lose the eclipse box and get an aquaclear 70+ and use it as a fuge and get a powerhead on top of that too...would work out alot better and look cleaner...

great work though man!

I would actually have preferred T5's with good parabolic reflectors...the good ones can put out the same amount of light as MH and run a lot cooler....however for the price I couldn't pass it up.

I would love to get an Aquaclear 70 and fugemod it, and I'm planning on using an MJ900 for flow, that's one definite option.

However, I am strongly considering drilling for a bulkhead and running a durso or stockman (haven't researched which I'd like better) and setting up a sump/fuge.

Looking good. That xenia is going to take over your tank in a matter of months though. I would definately go with a sump set-up. I'll be tagging along.

I had pulsing xenia in a 150 with 2 400w MH over it. They always died. I have one now thats in the shadow of my rockwork and its doing great. Just thought I would tell you so if your xenia starts to look bad.

Thanks for the tip...if they start looking upset I'll lower them in the tank.

JJ21....Thank you, but I haven't really done anything too amazing yet :) It's coming, though.

I just placed an order with Drs. Foster and Smith for a MJ900 and some LED moonlights. Should be here pretty soon as their store is only about 5 hours away from me...It may be too much to expect to have it by the weekend, but I can dream...hehe

I'm confused...after days of staying put, a couple of my xenia stalks that are attached to a snail shell are somehow being lifted off the rock and keep floating down to the sand...lol

I have a 24ga Nano that was doing OK until I dumped the lid with the 36W compacts for a 150W MH 20K...............now it is amazing! Clams, Gorgos, frogspawn, etc all doing amazing.

MH is the key to a true Nano success (IMO)

Keep up the good work!!!!

My package from Drs. Foster and Smith should be here relatively soon...I hope it gets here before I have to go to work anyways...I've got an MJ900 and some lunar lights scheduled to be delivered today, so I'm hoping for noon-ish :)

Edit: Fed-Ex's estimated delivery got pushed back to tomorrow....yet it was put on a truck at 6:30 this morning half an hour away from me...I might be disappointed if it does take an entire day to make that 30 minute journey...lol

Moonlights temporarily rigged up over the tank...not a bad $15 purchase...I just have to figure out how to rig them up permanently. I'll figure it out, though I must admit I'm a little stumped.

They're not nearly as bright as they seem in this picture...and they're much more shimmery.

The MJ900 is in and the flow is much MUCH heavier than it was with just the Eclipse pump. I'm not sure yet if the Xenia like it or not...but it should be okay.

I'll post a video of the flow soon and you can tell me if you think it's too much.

Thanks :) Sorry about the video again...it looks like crap. I guess that's what I get for using my cheap point and shoot for video...lol

Do you think that adding a HydorFlo would make enough of a difference to be worth it?

Doesn't seem to be much bigger than it is to have the deflector on the MJ...unless it has to be attached to the end of the MJ's venturi adaptor or something.

Flow seems to be pretty good in there, and gives a very nice shimmer effect from the halide since you have it agitating the surface so well. My only criticism is the amount of space it seems to take up in such a small tank. Hopefully disguising it won't be too hard. I have toyed with the idea of using a small aragocrete sheath over a pump/powerhead to disguise it well, but haven't had the time/motivation to make it happen yet. Would love to convince someone else to try it, though (i.e. you)

Good luck, can't wait to see where you go next on this build

As a side note, I had one of these rotating returns for a while, and I liked the effect, but it broke pretty quickly. I think the problem may have been caused by shutting off the pump for a few hours to work on something else, and then turning it back on after a small snail or two had camped inside. The return was never the same after that, although I did find the offending part and superglue it back together for a while

just saw your thread, amazing how you brought that tank back from the grave! great work, everything looks great, however just curious in the one picture is that on your mom's counter? great looking cabinets, patient mom ;) anyway if you really want extra flow try what I did, the mini jets and just hide it in your rock work does wonders and no anything extra sticking out all over the place, they use the mini jets also in the tanks at drs foster and smith retail store in the display tanks

I use the 606, but since your tank is half mine you could go with the smaller
