it would be different if the fish where dogs or cats

DUH! They would be drowning!:D

I called and left a message for them to get back with me. I will update here if they do.

I bet if someone from slash was to contact the science center and talk to someone other than a janitor. (THis will be the hard part) you may be able to get something done. if they are paying a maintenance company they may be willing to hand maintenance over to slash as a club. If it is something the club wants to do. I mean someone can not go there everyday but once a week have a volunteer go check the tank and top off or check the auto top off. I have seen other clubs maintain tanks like this in other places. they may even put a little plaque by the tank saying maintained by SLASH. Just a thought. I would volunteer but a little far of a drive for me to top off some water. I think it would be a real cool thing to do if passable.

There is a woman named Halcion that is going to call me back tomorrow. She is out of the office today.

I could go there weekly without any problem. I could also be "on-call" or have a list of "on-call" people in the club if there was a problem.

hello all I’m new and thinking of joining slash. I’m friends with stupid and rich. just wonted to put in my two cents. this issue needs to be confronted and fix it should never have been an issue, its the SCIENCE CENTER . let me know if I can help.

The cool thing is "if" the Science Center would let us make it better. A project to turn it into a reel reef for the kidies. If we could make friends with the Science Center they have nice conference rooms.

I agree and if the science center saw we were trying to help they might be okay with it. I will help as much as I can (free time permiting). Also this could be a good way to get the slash name out.

Not that I even need to say this but, try to find out what company or who is supposedly responsible for this tank.

We tried, or atleast I tried two years ago to have them let us take care of those tanks.

I hope we have better luck this time.

Beings though that the Science center is all about teaching kids Science. We can actually turn this around into a learning tool for children. And aren't there a few teachers in the group?;) ;) not to volunteer anyones time, but I believe some of us with time on weekends or something can hold a 1 hour "class" on tank husbandry and maintenance. People (especially smart people) don't like to be told they are doing things wrong. I believe that if we come in storm trooper style they will shut us out. But if we come with the slant of teaching people (especially the D-bag that is supposed to take care of it) we would get a better response I feel.

(especially the D-bag that is supposed to take care of it)

note to nook, don't tell her to look here and see we've started calling people names.

I would be able to commit to once a week getting by there to top off say every other week, We could get a schedule and remind each other. 7-8 of us on a rotation is all it would need. we could have a class or something. Is this tank in that childrens section you have to pay more to get in?

Wow, We put up the pitch forks, and might really get something done. Thank you everyone.

The tank is in the children's area. They charge $3.

Is that a puffer in that tank pic?

John

They also have a porcupine puffer that is around 10', but looked pretty healthy. Sorry I didn't take a pic of him.

I wasn't throwing out a pitchfork, I justs didn't wanna go by the science center looking for this tank and it be a place I wouldn't see unless I paid for admission to something. Now I at least know where it is.

I still want to help, just trying to find out its location so I don't wander around looking for it
