Just got my apex setup for internet access, whoohoo! Thanks to Dad1st suggestion the wireless part was a breeze. And the unofficial user guide, internet access wasnt too bad. The slinglink is awesome and had my apex connected to my router in linterally 2 mins, can beleive more people dont use or recommend these.

So here is my wireless advise, slinglink, look it up. Its basically a remote hardwired solution

They use a technology called powerline networking, aka HomePlug. There are similar products out there from most network companies with consumer product lines. They are a very good alternative to wireless. Among the advantages is that they are much easier to set up compared to most wireless mechanisms. The biggest drawback is if you want email notifications in event of a power outage, the SlinkLinks or equivalent devices must be on UPS power along with the controller, router, & cable/DSL modem.

I read this. So how does a "gamming" wireless adapter send an email without everything also being connected to a UPS, I know it is the case just cant figure why?

LOL. Sorry... I could have phrased that better. Did not mean to imply that a gaming adapter can work with no power ;) The WGA would still have to be on UPS power. Powerline adapters work in pairs, so the net result is that there is one more device that needs to go on a UPS compared to if a WGA is used.

Ha, makes more sense now. I had read this same thing somewhere else about the email funtion in the power loss situation and couldnt wrap my head around it.

My mp40's on ups works for me. Only time power goes out down here is when we have a hurricane, and we know when their coming:eek: Knocks on wood.

Doh! I am too darn tired tonight after a 16 hour work day. The real drawback is that they don't work on a UPS... period... the UPS isolates them from the AC wiring used for transmitting the signals. Unless, of course, they are plugged into the same UPS, which kinda defeats the purpose.

I need to just shut up and get some sleep.
