Slow motion wipe out in progress?

I've lost a Coral Beauty I had 3.5 years, and now my Blonde Naso Tang and Clown are suddenly showing signs of disease. The Coral Beauty just seemed to suddenly disintegrate; over a day or so, it went from fine to poor color, frayed fins, to dead. Then the tang:

You can see the patched area on the side of the tang, it's on both sides. Up close the patches look like worn places, as if he's been scratching against rocks, but I've never seen him so that... One of his eyes looks cloudy, the other fine.

The Clown suddenly has a rough leathery look, and seems to be rapid gilling...

Any suggestions? All parameters are fine, the only thing out of the ordinary is I discovered my UV bulb was out (possibly 2 weeks before discovery), could it's failing cause all this that quick?

Broad spectrum antibiotic. Bacterial diseases sometimes are quick, so - move quick with treatment.
I like the Maracyn and Maracyn 2. COvers both gram positive and gram negative bacteria.
Hope it helps-

Yes - they can be both dosed at the same time. You may knock back your bio load capability - so keep an eye on the Ammonia and Nitrites
Be sure to read the directions about removing any carbon, etc.
Good Luck

Well, too late for the clown. He went from looking and eating fine Friday, to the above pic Saturday, to this today:

Looks like he started a full body peel...

Did you add something new to your tank then start to see a decline in fish health?

Not to sure it was a bacteria. It killed to quick for that. My guess is brook or velvet. But it had to be introduced on something you added to your tank.

Well, I'm happy to report the Tang survived and is doing nicely.

teesquare, you nailed this one, I did the Maracyn 1 and 2, and he came back after 17+ days of not eating. Thanks!

FWIW, at its worst this fish had large patches on either side that appeared to be rotting, and he had a film over one eye that got pretty bad but eventually peeled away.

I've had this fish almost four years, glad to save him if not the others.

Teesquare and QuickCarl,
Is Maracyn 1 and 2 reef safe?
I'm just wondering for future reference.
Thanks!
Best wishes to you and your Tang!
