Slowing down Osmolator

I'm planning to pump Kalkwasser with Osmolator. I'm just a bit worried about what might happen if the optical sensor gets dirty and the pump keeps on running until the timeout.

Is there any clever way to cut down the amount of water pumped - e.g. restricting the hose or using a lower voltage transformer?

I put a John guest valve in line and turned it down a bit. Had a problem with my ato and kalk stirrer it was dispensing all my kalk into the tank too fast because of the pressure of the pump.

When the sensor is dirty it shuts off, it reads soiling as being in water.

You can restrict it, the pump actually draws less power with an outlet restriction and it won't harm anything but it shouldn't be necessary.
