okay here is the deal
i have a 40 gallon with a coral beauty, 2 falco hawks and a bicolor blenny. i added blue damsel to the tank a week ago and the 2 hawks double teamed on him and ripped him to shreds. so i got a yellow damsel and i kept him in a kritterkeeper in the tank for a week to get them used to eachother.
the week in the kritterkeeper helped alot as i let him out last night and no one was bugging him, but in the morning he had some injuries, but not as bad as the blue damsel as he could no longer swim as his whole tail was bitten off and he died hours after the attack.
i actually managed to trap and remove one hawkfish so at least now half the threat is gone, i tried to get the yellow damsel back in the kritterkeeper but i failed to do so.
the fish has some torn fins but that is not what worries me, he is missing alot of scales on one side and the area is white and a bit red. is there anything i can do to help him heal faster? no one is bothering him at all now so the harrassment seems to have ended. the fish is still eating and swimming normally.
i have this stuff called melafix, its for both fresh and saltwater and says it does not harm even the most sensative inverts. the decription includes helping wounds, missing scales and torn fins to heal.
should i try it? i would hate to kill any of my corals just trying to save a $4 damsel...but i still don't want him to die.
