Small Stripe Variations

I saw two very young clowns at a major retail LFS yesterday while I was there getting some stuff for my sons gerbils. They both looked like false perc's but their middle stripe did not touch.

The top one started at the dorsel fin and only went a short way and rounded off nicely, same thing with the bottom stripe on both fish. They weren't being sold as special clowns and were priced as any other normal $17 clown.

I've never seen this stripe variation. Is it uncommon or valueable?

They're called misbars, usually due to poor nutrition/water quality during rearing.

As to value, if you come up with a clever designer name for them and mark them up 500%, some people will jump all over them while others will have nothing to do with them.

I could very well be wrong, but I thought facial deformities were from that, and the mis-barring was/is genetic ?
