Small washing machine for filter socks?

anyone using a small washing machine just for filter socks?

I'm looking to get a separate small washing machine that will strictly be used to clean filter socks, looking to handle around 6 socks in one load.

wondering if anyone out there is doing this and for suggestions on a machine.

Thanks

Couldn't you just throw the filter socks in your primary washing machine with the rest of your whites? Give them a quick rinse under the faucet before you use them again? Buying a whole new washer machine strictly for filter socks sounds a little extreme to me.

so many chemicals in main washing machine and don't want to cross the two.

I know there are several small washing machines out there that are relatively inexpensive..

was wondering if anyone had any experience with any of them for this purpose

I understand, but FWIW a whole bunch of other members including myself have never had any problems doing this. It's definitely worth a shot before you spend your money on something that you might not need to begin with. GL.

I use the sanitary cycle with just a touch of bleach, then let them air dry. Never had any issues.
Seems like the money could be better spent elsewhere.
But it's up to you.

I use disposable mesh pads, not socks so don't know for sure.

But my understanding is that with hard tap water, like you have in karst country, washing machines can tend to harbor detergent residues. Not sure how much or if it's enough to make a difference. Or if it's even true. The guys who sell water conditioning systems sure believe it to be true. Just something to think about.

OP : There are space saving machines made for small apartment dwellers. I think I've even seen kitchen units for counter top use.

I was thinking about doing this when I first started watching mine. I'm glad I didn't spend a hundred bucks on one of those countertop washing machines. Regular washing machine works just fine, no problems. Skimmer doesn't react to him at all.

I use a regular HO machine with one of those no-soap washing balls---not 100% great for clothes, but it delivers clean filter socks.

After washing with regular white laundry, I rinse the filter socks in a bucket of water treated with Prime and leave to air dry.

I would think you would be spending more money and time doing multiple loads with one of these little washer considering they can probably only hold 2-3 socks at a time. Compared to 1 load in a conventional machine. FWIW i wash my filter socks at a public laundry mat and have yet to have a problem.

I use a Danby DWM17WDB Portable Top Load Washing Machine expressly for this purpose. Can do 4 large (18") socks at a time. This way I know there will be no contaminants, no changed settings, and best of all, no sleeping on the couch.

I do the load of just filter socks (I have a lot!) and it works fine. Wash with oxy-clean and then do 2 rinse cycles. Then do a load of just whites with bleach to get the washing machine clean and flush the drains good.

I use our washing machine. Never had any issues. I use a small amount of bleach one time, but run the cycle 4 times. 1st cycle on hot, 2nd on warm, flip inside out and run last two on warm. Then I run a short cycle on hot with nothing in it before using for clothes. Had much success this way.

i just use my regular washing machine run a cycle with no detergent and a towel or two. gets any residue washed out of machine then i run filter socks adding a little prime during both wash cycles . air dry and your good to go
