i have white dots the size of fine sand all over my tank glass. they look kinda like snowflakes if i look real close. anyone have a clue as to what this might be?

We had the spots with dots we called them, not since our tanks where new. Appear to be clear egg sacks with little white eggs inside. Our guess was snail eggs?
They seemed to appear inline with one another as if being dropped off by a traveling snail.
Our tanks have hundreds of small (pea size would be bigger!) round snails, mostly come out of the rock at night.
A magnifying glass has always been one of the most fun accessories with our tanks, have a close up look~

they dont appear to be moving around on the glass. just a snowflake with a white dot in the middle. fuzzy outer edges that that move with the current

Hi,

I usually see the same thing on my glass after my son hits me with his power ranger sword up side the head. No, just kidding, its kind of hard to tell without a photo. Could be some kind of egg case or algae?

i had something that it sounds like you are describing. mine were a type of jellyfish. if you bump them gently with something they will "swim" across the tank. they are totally harmless and will probably dissappear in the not too distant future. they are kind of neat while they are there tho.

I had a very small number of those hydros in my tank but they were gone when I added the power head that swivels back and forth

Kevin you have PM

sorry, I forgot the orginal point, I can't see any reason to worry if they are hydros, I can't open Kevin's picks to be sure but mine were hydros (got the scope out to be sure)

if they seem to spread or if you just don't like them use the hose and vac them to Davey Jones

Yes those are different than the ones i had!

Some of the white spots in my tank that didnt get cleaned off (back of tank) turned into tiny little feather dusters and are still there (2 years)
