Smoothdog's 150DD build

Smooth my friend, that stand looks awesome! I see you like Kreg Jigs as well :) I just got one after doing it freehand all these years and its AMAZING! At the moment my stand is almost totally done. Just got a router table so I am about to edge the door panel and then install and seal it. Since it's cherry wood I am not going to stain it but instead maybe do a boiled linseed oil coat or two and then a clear shellac.

Very nice!

Looks sexy, I like it

Very nice

Thanks guys!

Do you have a link for how the lift is designed or where you got the idea? It looks great!

I used this video as the basis but modified it to work from a single corner.

This will be a gravity assist lift, so I will lift on the far corner to raise it and then prop it open to hold it. With the right materials this could be a single point lift but I didn't have the time, money and metalworking skill required for that and didn't feel it was necessary, so went this route.

Thanks Damon! I actually use a pocket hole jig I got at harbor freight for half the price, but agree, it works awesomely. :D Sounds like that's going to be a nice stand too. Post up some pics when you get a chance!

I will take some tonight. Have to stop at Rockler on the way home to get the finishing materials and some door hardware. I am going for the hidden hinge no knob look.

::EDIT::

Forgot to mention, I too love Harbor Freight!

I was hoping I could get some of these http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=32600&rrt=1 at the Rockler store but it looks like they are an 'online only' thing. :( It will cost more to ship them than the panel couplers themselves. Stupid Rockler.:blown:

Those things are awesome! That would be super handy if my door was not a panel cut with lots of trim around it. That will go in my tool bag of knowledge for future projects.

Everything looks neat and beautiful. Good job dog.

The lift is interesting, Id love to see it in action. I saw the link. Interesting!!!!!

Got the plumbing done and made a snail/fish screen for my Herbie main drain:

The hood lift is now somewhat functional. I may change this up down the road:

By the way, I found out that if the Rockler site says "online only" for any item that doesn't also say "ships direct", then you can have the store order it and not have to pay shipping. This is great for small things that cost more to ship than the product costs.
