Snail development macros

"Umm fish?"

I've been following the development of some snail eggs on my glass and they are turning into some mighty beautiful creatures. So, I thought I'd share a couple of photos.

So, the egg case:

And a close-up of one of the snails:

Thanks for looking!

They are absolutely gorgeous animals. I took another with a little different lighting and a little more magnification.

That's one of the reasons that I'm documenting the development. They are likely either Collumbellid or Nerite but we don't know for certain. The are both species from the DIBS (now RSF) group, so are pretty likely to survive in my tank if nothing eats them.

Shots from tonight:

A shot at 100%:

And here are the ceriths at 100%. You can see how much smaller they are.

BTW, the ceriths have put down two more enormous strands of eggs.

I don't if it's just how the site is working today, but I'm not seeing any images in this thread, just unfound image placeholders / little red x's.

Sorry. Part of my URL has the word "f-i-s-h" in it and the site is auto-changing that word to another word as an April Fool's joke. So, none of those links work. They'll be back tomorrow or you can change the URL to: http://65.102.221.68/ and then add the name of the photo if you wish.
