Snail development macros

I've been following the development of some snail eggs on my glass and they are turning into some mighty beautiful creatures. So, I thought I'd share a couple of photos.

Neat. What lens did you use for that, the 100mm f/2.8 or something different?

Nope. That was the Canon MP-E 65mm macro set to 2x life size.

They are absolutely gorgeous animals. I took another with a little different lighting and a little more magnification.

Wow this a a very cool series. Do you know the species?

That's one of the reasons that I'm documenting the development. They are likely either Collumbellid or Nerite but we don't know for certain. The are both species from the DIBS (now RSF) group, so are pretty likely to survive in my tank if nothing eats them.
