Snail development macros

eah, I'm pretty impressed that I managed to log in today. I guess the search-and-replace happens on the raw text on the way to the browser for formatting. Pretty cool.

Sorry. Part of my URL has the word "f-i-s-h" in it and the site is auto-changing that word to another word as an April Fool's joke. So, none of those links work. They'll be back tomorrow or you can change the URL to: http://65.102.221.68/ and then add the name of the photo if you wish.

Woohoo! We have juveniles!!!!!!!!

Here's the opened egg case with the stragglers:

And a brand new snail already cleaning the glass:

LMFAO Tim the mantis shrimp and his cyclopes antics! Ahh that brings back memories

Is there even a tank of the month? Waterkeeper is tearing down the news forum (april fools I think) and there are a bunch of hot chicks in reef slides...and no tank of the month? lol strange

Yes, April Fools for sure. I stepped right in the middle of that one! I'm too gullible for my own good. :rolleye1:

Good luck with the redfish.

Oh, yeah. Gotta save up the money for one of those powder-reds. :)

It looks like I was wrong on the ID of the likely parents of the snails. This is my best guess of species:

Looks like a Collumbellid. So, in the same super-family as Nassarius, but these are herbivores.

Hey WaterKeeper!
That powder red tang was beautiful, I'm studying marine biology and find the prospect of an undiscovered surgeon fish particularly exciting!

So it is a fake then? I was starting to figure. I've been searching all over for references to it and nobody knew anything. I did get some other people excited though hahahahaha. Oh well. Jokes on me, good one guys.

In hindsight, if the ridiculous name didn't tip you off (I breezed right over it), that they are sociable and dine on Gem Tang eggs would be other clues.

The "boiler plate" about not buying them and allowing scientists to study them first was the icing on the plausibility cake for me. Plus the rubbish about their being found at 30' plus helped "explain" why lots of breath hold collectors hadn't found them yet.

I can't believe how many people we catch with the April Fools edition. Of course, Umm, Fish may be fooling us too and those are pics of food particles in his dish soap bubbles. :D

I better get out of here before Doug gets mad. Most Mods and Admins don't take it well when I leave the Newbies and visit their Forums ;)

Film is great! I would shoot it a lot more if I didn't have to pay for it. When college is over I will probably invest in a nice EOS film setup.
