Snails and clams

I have a new T. Squamosa that I've placed in the sandbed of my tank. Multiple times daily various snails crawl all over the shell, antagonizing it a great deal. I just raised it a little bit with some PVC pipe. The snails get very close to the mantle and I've even witnessed a snail bridging the clam and crossing over it. Is this traumatizing for the clam? If so, what can I do, aside from the PVC, to prevent this?

My snails graze on the shell of my T. max too. They try to cross the gape as well. I think my max is used to it. It will close or retract, but will open right back up after the snail is off it's mantle.

My snails climb all over my clams as well and they don't seem to react much any more. I have a lawn mower blenny that likes to sit on the mantle of 5.5" Squamosa as well. I kept waiting for the clam to catch him but now he just ignores the pest:rolleyes:

My snails crawl all over my clams with no ill effects, other than causing them to repeatedly blast substrate around trying to shake them off sometimes!

The longer I have them, the less they seem to react to the snails, though.
