Snails / Crabs

A friend of mine and I were thinking of placing an order on reeftopia.com for a cleaner package. We are in the Des Moines area and wondered if anyone else was interested. At a minimum, we can save some shipping costs of we order together. I think we will place the order in a couple weeks, but wanted to get an idea of who would be in.

Thanks,
Jason

Sounds great. I'm not dead set on reeftopia, but I've ordered there once before and they did a great job. If you see another site that is a winner, let me know.

OK I'm in - with one caveat - we may be moving and if the order happens @ the same time as the move then I might havet o back out. So if we do it soon - great - if not then I may have to wait!

Also - we should list what we all want to see if we can get some stuff bought from their "lot" list @ a cheaper price.

I am looking @ the following:

1. Hermit Small Blue Leg (24) @ $12
2. Nassarius Snails - 12 @ $10
3. Nudibranch Lettuce - 1 @ $7.00
4. Shrimp, Peppermint - 4 @ $12.00

I'd be in again also Jason... I still have snails, crabs and starfish from 2 years ago when we ordered from this place.

I really need a couple of emarld crabs to help take care of some bubble algae but I guess I could also use some cerith and Astrea snails again as well. I think I would like a small group of peppermint shrimp as well.

teaser - I have some zoo frags...

I'll give a shout out when we are ready to go. Just be thinking of what you want.
Terry, I also have a few guys left from the order, but don't have a single emerald crab and very few of anything else. Time to stock up as the hair algae is back.

I've got some hair algae too.......what do you suggest to handle it? I've not got a lot but don't want it to get out of hand......also, is there anything that eats flat worms? Got a few of those too:(

Thanks for the suggestions,
Janey

I have had good luck with blue legged crabs and hair algea - but they kill each other off .... still have two left from 3 years ago ....

The one sure fire way to get rid of flatworms (Red Planaria) is Flatworm Exit. It might take a couple applications but works very well (if the directions are followed)

But, as far as natural predation goes.. the Six Line Wrasse is supposed to eat them ( although the one that I bought quit eating them for pods ). Mandarins are supposed to eat them too, but I understand that to be more miss than hit.
Sorry to hyjack for a minute.

Thanks for the tips on hair algae and flatworms.......will have to investigate further..........

When you order, I was looking to get the following items.

Emerald crab x3 = 15.00$
Blue leg hermits x24 = 12.00
Turbo snails x12 = 10.00
Cerith snails x12 = 15.00
Pep. shrimp x4 = 12.00

Total = 64.00$

When were you thinking of ordering?

Here is what I would like to get, obviously very open but I really need the Emerald Crabs.

Emerald Crabs x 2
Turbo Snails 10+ or what ever might be left over
Cerith Snails 10+ or what ever might be left over

I want to order just a few but quick question -- does anyone know if their Star snails really do right themselves. I'm tired of my astreas falling off the rocks and my blue leg eating them.

I'll be placing the order next week. With this many people, I may end up asking for people to send me the total for their orders and I will then place it. I can understand if someone doesn't want to pay for the goods up front, but I don't know if I can front all the cash. If this is ok, shoot me a PM and we can work out how to handle the order and payment. I think then I'll take a day off to be home for when the order comes in. I'll bag everyones stuff up in seperated bags and have things ready for pick up.
I'm pretty excited to get stocked back up.

Jason
