SNIPERSPS Tank Crash

Justin, I can't use a generator where I am..I put the return pump only on a major UPS backup, and there is one to which you can add an additional battery. The one I have was a couple hundred, and will hold the return pump through 3-5 hours, which is longer than the longest blackout we've ever had. There is one that can double that. And the guy at the computer store said there is a way to daisy-chain UPS's together.

Wow... that's unbelievably tragic :( It's not like he collected run of the mill stuff either. That was arguably one of the finest private LE and rare collections in the country.

Welll.....i am about sick to my stomach seeing these people that have so much money wrapped up in their tanks that they skimp on buying a generator...my tank wasnt near worth that and i have one for that very reason......why have a tank thats worth tens of thousands of dollars and not have a generator that will run you fro 500-2000 bucks?

that sounds heartless but lets fricking think here people.......we dont need to hear about any more TOTM's crashing because of no fricking generator or battery back up

Serioussnaps,

Hugo stated he has a generator but did not use it because he thought power will resume timely.....No matter what it was still a great loss...all those corals and fish gone.

I am sure he is kicking himself enough as it is regarding the generator. Bottom line is in reefing is if it can go wrong it will. The extension cord on the floor will get wet, the float valve will fail, the timer will stay on, the skimmer will overflow. I lost my tank in January and since have gone crazy looking at it from a "what will fail next" standpoint.

Where can I find this animal?

I'm curious what would happen if you had a calcium reactor? Would the CO2 continuously pump into your CO2 reactor (and eventually sump)?? Or are their switches that default to "closed" on a power loss?

It will automatically shut off if you have solenoid.
