Snorkeling in Grand Cayman

Not sure about the best, but as far as convenient goes, if you're staying near 7 mile beach, try cemetery reef. It's on the north end of the beach. Look for the cemetery on the water side of the road. Lots of fish. And they're used to being fed. As we were swimming out to the reef, the fish spotted us and swam out to greet us. Saw a spotted eagle ray when we were there in November.

Just east of Georgetown Harbor is Eden Rock, easy entry and good snorkeling, just don't go into town when the cruise ships are in. An excellent place with easy entry is next to the Turtle Farm. Just behind the Cracked Conch (restaurant) is a path with a ladder entry in a protected cut in the iron shore. There is also a dive shop under the restaurant if you need to rent any gear. A little out of the way, on the North side of the Island is a little path for beach access along the North Side Rd., just a little west of Frank Sound Rd. It's where the road nearly goes into the water and just before you get to one of the big resorts. Nice little out of the way sort of spot with pristine reefs in shallow water. Rum point is also alright for a little easy stuff when access to food and drink is higher on the priority list.

best place by far iv done is a small beach about 15min drive from Sunset house towards the east end driving on the south side of the island. The beach was named after some early settlers, maybe even called Boden beach? It was grerat, tons of coral formations, alot of juvinile fish(angles, tangs, butterflys and parrot mainly.) Loved it. Let me try and find the spot.

It was near boden town im pretty sure

Nice little beach, there was as nice little restaurant there with a deck overlooking the beach. Didn't snorkel there, but it did look like a good spot.

I'll be staying at the thinnest part of 7-mile beach, also I'm a beginner at snorkeling.

Finally are there any kinds of cool fish I should look for while snorkeling?

governers reef is small but its right off 7 mile beach by the westin. i would swim to it for a couple hours each day on my honeymoon. saw rays and sea turtles

+1 on the area behind the Cracked Conch\turtle farm. One of my favorite snorkel\dive sites anywhere. Seriously, where else can you shore dive 2 ledges and get into 1000 feet of water? Tons of grouper, lobster, angels, and turtles. Excellent coral growth as well from the outfall from turtle farm. Also that side of the island managed not to get as damaged from the hurricanes in 04-05. Most of the south shore spots got destroyed from those canes (at least compared to how they were before). Have been going since the early 90's.

Got in to Grand Cayman today. I haven't picked a company, but I'll be diving with my brother too.

Ben, have you picked a dive company yet?

Does anyone have recommendations?

Here's a teaser... From off 7 mile beach, using a Fujifilm Finepix z33 waterproof camera. It's good to about 10 feet, but my accidental testing has proved it's good to 15 ;)
