I've never really been snorkling and I'm going on my honeymoon in jamaica in May--he a snorkling question and it may sound kind of stupid but is it possible to snorkle with your contacts lenses in? I remember trying 20 years or so ago on Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean and I just recall the mask always filling with water and having to take out my contacts and I saw basically nothing, nada! And to think that was or could have been snorkling heaven out there! Any thoughts? Do some of the resorts (we're going to Sandals Whitehouse Jamaica) have masks with presciption--generic--lenses?) I want to attempt this before i try scuba. Should have opted for the Lazek....

Do you have soft or hard contacts? I cant get them in my eyes but I was talking to someone who use soft with not problem, I personaly have my percerption in my mask.

As long as you have a decent mask that fits properly you shouldn't have a problem. If you do start to leak hold your mask against your forehead and gently blow out your nose while slowly looking up. That is how you clear a mask W/O purge. W/purge hold the mask against your face and blow gently.

As RT said, it is important to get a mask that fits you properly. Then you won't have trouble with it leaking. Rather than rely on whatever masks they have at your resort, you might want to visit a dive shop at home and get yourself one that fits you. Expect to pay $40-100 depending on what you choose.

While you can get prescription lenses in a mask, these days many people do wear contacts with a regular mask.

Cool--thanks for the info. We're going to a Sandals resort and they claim to have top of the line gear and such but I don't know...
