I have a 75 gallon mixed reef (sps, lps, softies) run with 8bulb t5. What would you guys recommend for a host for my snowflakes I just got? Not sure what is the best bet.

With ones that pretty I would host them with a ritteri.

But that is most likely because I am prone to a Ritteri.

Heteractis magnifica, Magnificent Sea Anemone, aka ritteri.

They are a more challenging anemone to keep. They need a lot of light but with your 8 bulbs you should have plenty, depending on the color combo of bulbs you're running.

Best regards,
Frank

Magnifica or Gigantea would be the anemone of choice for me. Too bad they are the most difficult anemones to keep

A mag or a gig is out me. They sound really difficult to care for. Would an rbta or ritteri work for snowflakes?

A bubble tip could work and I have seen examples of percs taking to bubble tips but I have also seen more cases of the perc and bubble tip never pairing up.

Because bubble tips aren't natural hosts the snowflakes may never take to the bubble tip. So if you want to really increase your chances of having them pair, it's always better to go with a natural host.

It's really for our own gratification to see the clownfish/anemone relationship but in actuality clowns don't require an anemone.

Best regards,
Frank

The affinity of the clowns to their Natural hosts are much more so than other non-natural hosts. Once you see your clowns hosted by their Natural hosts, nothing else will do, IMO.

Just shows some clowns will host anything they can. And my friends clowns are tank bred.

Mine were hosting in frogspawn once. LOL

It was not too happy and pulled back, they quickly moved on.

I posted some video today in my build thread. You can see one clown actually laying on the GSP in the top left of the video. LOL...

Crazy mugs!!!

My pair of percs have a gbta and 3 rbta's that they never leave. It took them a little over a month to find then but once they did they never left

I have hammer, frogspawn, candy canes, big frilly shrooms, huge devils hands. They haven't had an interest in anything.
