I lost one of my female Snowflakes so I mated the Snowflake male with a female true Percula and they have been spawning viable eggs every 12 days for the last 3-4 months. They hatch 7 days after being laid. I raised one batch that unfortunately a battery operated thermometer fell in the tank and killed all but one. This 7 week old fry is looking to have a lot of the Snowflake markings. It has a very wide headband that extends over the eyes to the dorsal. Behind that band is a large patch of white, not a band, about twice as wide, that is looking to fill up probably at least 75% of the body. I am assuming it will gain a tail stripe in the future. The only Percula I see in it is the black areas around the white, almost "picasso" like. I will get a pic as soon as I can find someone with a good close-up camera.
I did not want to raise any more of these hybrids but now curiosity has got to me. I will collect the next spawn due to hatch next Tuesday, and see if I can raise them to see how many come out as Percs and how many snowflake morphs. The hatch size is about 250-300 eggs but I will only collect about 100.
