snuba

My husband and I are certified scuba divers but because of a medical condition, he can no longer scuba. Has anyone done snuba? I would be interested in a description and general impressions.
Thanks.

Why can't he dive anymore?
Snuba is just like scuba, only the tank stays on the boat so you are limited by the length of the hose.

Yup, Snuba is just a fancy marketing term for diving on hookah rig ;) The only thing it saves you from is carrying that tank on your back. All other diving considerations still apply.

He has contraints about depth. We still swim and body surf so I was hoping that the depth would be less, maybe 10 feet and with me at his side if he became unconsousin (unlikely) that it would not be as dangerous as being down 100 feet. He can't sky dive either or rock climb, but we don't do that. He can play, drive, just can't be where he might die if this "vasal-vagal" thing happens.

I would suggest you call DAN.
But as a rule, any time there is a chance to pass out, being underwater is a bad place to be, no matter what the depth.

If he has depth constraints, I'd stick to snorkeling. IMO for 10 feet or less I find snorkeling is the way to go, even being a fully fit and certified Scuba diver ;)

Yes, I'm an RN and I have two other degrees (Duke Univeristy, go Blue Devils, just not this year), my mother was a reading specialist and I can't spell past a 4th grade level. This place needs spell check!

Hey catnup, where's the comma between the n and the t In can't.
I"m with NaCl lady. You can check plenty of my posts and my spelling is not the best also. And at the end of a long day who has the time.

Actually that is a perk of Premium Membership ;) Also the firefox browser has spell check built in, and it's a free download and better browser than IE :)

I'm a bioligist, so without spell check I'd be in trouble!

i wasnt trying to be a jerk but i thought that it was pretty funny that she is a registered nurse and cant spell unconscious. no need to try and defend. it was just funny imo

unconsousin - not even close lol
