It seems as though your 'hands off' approach is working in your favor! How long has the tank been running? Your sandbed looks super clean. Digging the minimalist look! :)

Thanks Johnny. This tank is almost 1 yr old (started in January 2010)
It's a shallow sandbed, that I try to vacuum every week (I try!!). I don't use any calcium reactor/kalk supplements anymore, just straight up 10g water changes every week. The idea is to simulate a "natural reef" water which is pristine all the time, and it seems to be successful so far (knock on wood).

I think that a big part of the algae-free success is having a small bioload. I only have 1 tang and 3 small fishes + frequent WC.

I am SOOOO JEalous of your Achilles it is BEEEUTIFUL!

xtm that is one fantastic-looking tank. Can you give a little more info on your set-up? Looks like not a lot of LR in the DT: do you have some elsewhere, like the sump?

All Delight:
Thanks

SBJim,
No that's all the rocks I have, there's nothing in the sump. There must be 5 pcs of LR in the display and that's it.
