So expensive... any information on this very expensive fish ?

Wow, this is the first photo I see of this fish, and it's rare for me to say this about any Caribbean fish! As far as I know this is the first one to make it in the aquarium trade, so if you are looking for information related to aquarium I think you won't get much.

As far as it being expensive, it is because of it's depth range. It is a very deep water fish, only collected between 150 and 170m depth. Deep even for rebreather dives...

Should be part of collection mentioned by old town aquarium who is selling a much cheaper( in comparison...but still cost $ 1899,99 ), but seldon seem Spanish Flag grouper (Gonioplectrus hispanus)
In their email, they mention the use of submarine for collection... but just that ...

Are ther any link available with this story ?

who in the world would spend 9k on a fish?

If you think 9k is expensive, I know somebody recently bough the fish on my avatar (Genicanthus personatus) for 15k... There are people willing to spend money on a lot of things. I for one would spend a lot on a fish (if I had the money), but would never spend 75k on a car (even if I had the money, 10k honda civic runs just fine), all about priorities.

Trust me, if you spend that much on a fish you didn't notice any dents in your bank account.Chump change. When you have that much you gotta spend it on something, might as well be a fish.

Saw her...she is beautiful and a great size... but I wouldn't spend $15,000 for it...but there are some crazy triggers I would spend it on...agree with Luiz...some would buy a car...others a fish...and hopefully it lives...some crazy prices out there now within our hobby...impressive to see how quickly these high dollar fish go...

This is the personatus at HoF; the female to the male in Luiz's avatar. She is less than 3" long and was sold before she even hit the store.

for some people a $300 wrasse is crazy, there's guy around greenwich making that a day or a week so 15k for them is nothing.
